Prairie Style |
|
The Prairie Style home with its horizontal rather than vertical orientation provides the principles for Dale to design a home with history, yet meet the needs of the 21st century family. The low pitched roofs and deep overhangs and windows to view the rolling hills and flatlands typical of the Midwest are characteristic of this style. The Prairie Style home is a demonstration of organic architecture, introduced by Frank Lloyd Wright in the early 1900s. Dwellings built with this philosophy create a marriage between the site (your property) and the structure (your home). These homes by design promote harmony between you and the area surrounding your home by emphasizing the use of interior light and open spaces. Windows and glass doors focus your view out of the home into the horizon and the integration between the outside and the inside occurs.
The lines of the structure are repeated throughout the home to provide continuity of look and feel. Be it the lines of the windows, doors, stairways, mantels, artwork, cabinetry or tile work, a continuity of design brings harmony in the home. The overall feel of the home is a summation of each individual component yielding a home in which it is easy to live and function. Lines, texture and space work together to create a peaceful environment for you to enjoy.
